How long does the recruiting process take?

The process of candidate search and placement usually takes about 2-3 weeks (we are fast :) ). It may take a little longer, for tech roles. 

Where do you source your candidates from?

We source our candidates mostly from Armenia & Georgia - two highly developing countries in Armenia.

What does an Employer of Record (EOR) do and how does it work?

An Employer of Record (EOR) is a company that takes on the legal responsibility of employer-employee relationships. This means that they act as the official employer on behalf of their client and are responsible for managing payroll, benefits, taxes, and compliance.

Why is a team in Armenia suitable for EU companies?

Armenia is located at the interface between Europe and Asia and offers direct flights from most European capitals. The time difference to Europe is only 2 hours. Armenia is famous for “ease of doing business”. The young generation is multilingual. Many multinational companies are already present here (Google, Microsoft, IBM). Most of the important European foundations and language schools are also very active here (DAAD, ZfA, HBS). As the region is still experiencing constant development, prices in the economy are still quite low compared to the quality of services.

Where can our team members work?

Your team can work either in the home office or in our central office in the capital Yerevan, Armenia.

How can I qualify the candidates?

We conduct ourselves the first screening interviews. For most of the roles, we have an established assessment to qualify the necessary skills. We create an assessment center together with you if needed to test the candidate’s specific skill sets. In this way, we provide you with the top candidates for the final interview.

What hardware does the employee work with?

Employee(s) can work with their own hardware. If this does not meet your requirements, you can either rent hardware from us (price list) or send your own hardware to our office in Yerevan.

Can you hire a part-time team member and can she/he work full-time later?

Some of our clients started with a part-time contract with the employee and then switched to a full-time contract. This enabled both parties to be more confident in cooperating in the long term. But we have to note that the employee is not always necessarily available full-time later. We also carefully choose the right candidates in this regard while sourcing.

How many days of holiday do our colleagues in Armenia have?

The law prescribes a minimum of 20 paid vacation days per year, you can of course grant more. In addition, there are 15 public holidays in Armenia. In some cases, the employee may agree to work on the holidays as well.

What if the team member gets sick?

Sickness benefit for the first 5 working days is paid fully at the expense of the employer, after 5 days the rest of the benefit is at the expense of the government budget.

In case of long-term illness, the employee's right to receive sickness benefits may continue for a period of no more than 3 months or until dismissal as prescribed by the contract.

Do I have to pay for health insurance?

It is not mandatory, but we highly recommend it. Especially because we have a very good offer - roughly €30 per month.

How is the termination regulated?

The minimum probationary period is 3 months. The notice period during the probationary period is 2 weeks. Thereafter, the notice period is at least 4 weeks. Exceptions to this are extraordinary termination without notice for good cause.

Payments & Legal

How does the invoicing work?

You will receive one invoice including all payment positions and all the mandatory information required in Europe once a month. You also do not have to pay VAT.

How should I complete the payment?

On the first three days of each month, you will receive an invoice from us, which clearly indicates salaries and other fees for the previous month.

The transfer should be done within 7 days via SWIFT transfer to our Armenian bank account. The transfer fee should be added to the invoice amount.

Who pays the income tax?

In Armenia, as in Europe, payroll tax is a withholding tax. This means that our Armenian company has to pay the wage tax directly to the tax authorities. The costs for this are already included in the salary. There are no additional costs for you. By the way, the wage tax is always 20% (flat tax). There is no progression, no tax allowances, and no tax brackets.
Salaries and income tax must be paid in the local currency AMD. Of course, we take care of this for you.

Do I have to pay EU social security contributions?

No, the provisions of the security contributions only apply to persons who have their domicile or habitual residence in the EU. In this respect, the Armenian and not the EU legal provisions apply. (Principle of territoriality)

What are the non-wage costs?

Since the Armenian pension reform came into force, there has been an additional, funded pension plan in addition to the basic state pension. Participation is mandatory for all employees under 40 years of age. As an Armenian employer, we are required to pay 5% of gross wages into the state pension scheme. The costs for this are already included in our salary calculation.

What salary should I pay?

It all depends on the position and seniority of the candidate. For example, for a junior operational assistant, it can begin from monthly €500 for full time.

Am I required to pay VAT?

No, you do not have to pay VAT, because Armenia has a reverse charge procedure with many European countries

What needs to be considered with regard to the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

Our contracts and annexes are developed to ensure compliance with the GDPR. We also help you to train newly hired employees. This way together we ensure the level of data protection required by the GDPR is met by your new employees.

What Is an Employer of Record in Armenia?

If you have a business registered abroad and want to hire employees in Armenia, an employer of record acts as a legal intermediary between you and your hired staff. They handle all the legal, tax, and administrative tasks of employment. You only specify your needed roles, approve employees, and manage their daily tasks.

Is an Employer of Record Costly?

Hiring through an employer of record is the cheapest option of all available alternatives. Organizing all the legal and tax processes through a third party is more affordable than creating and maintaining your own local entity in Armenia (+ hiring or training personnel to operate the new entity in a foreign location).
